A year has gone so fast and as I sat wrapping presents for my God Daughters first birthday I thought it would be a good time to reflect.
I started this blog in January 2016 after a bad flare, of my fibromyalgia symptoms, which left me off work for 9 weeks. I started it as a way of bringing awareness of fibromyalgia to the people around me and support for those who have a chronic illness. I know from experience that an invisible illness can be hard for family, friends, colleagues and employers to understand. But most importantly I started it for me. I wanted to share my life experiences, document how I coped on a day-to-day basis and connect with others with and without a chronic illness. Over the last year my posts have varied from being about my chronic illness to product reviews and going into my second year of blogging I am now more focused on what I want my blog to be. As you can see my blog has changed a little. I have added a new logo, become self-hosted, added more pages and finally got the hang of categorising posts so they go where I want them to.
You might ask, how have my aims actually changed? Well they haven’t really changed but expanded from the experience of reading a variety of blogs and connecting with many people on social media. I have met so many inspiring people through social media this year and read some incredible posts not just about chronic illness and this has made me look at blogging in a new light.
So now what do I want? I want my blog to be a place where people can come for support, whether they have a chronic illness or not. A place where people can find out about different ways of coping with chronic illness, lifestyle tips, products, books and somewhere for people to find inspiration.
But most of all I want my blog to be accessed and enjoyed by a wide range of people. As a teacher it has been my focus since starting university to strive for inclusion, to meet the needs of all pupils and I want my blog to be the same. Whether you have a chronic illness or not I want you to feel welcome in my little corner of the internet. So whether you are a teacher looking for resource ideas, a book enthusiast looking for a new read or a lifestyle blogger wanting to connect, join me on my continuing journey through the world of blogging.
Please bare with me as I get my new pages up and running, and I look forward to spending another year with my loyal readers and also a year welcoming new readers to My Fibro a New Beginning.
