Today has been a long day. After a full day teaching, I attended an afternoon training session. It was one of those sessions you’re emailed about, agree to and then forget about till the day of. Although I had a rubbish night sleep and was dreading attending the meeting, I enjoyed it.
The talk was given by Gary Crew, author of The Watertower, about visual literacy and it was facinating and inspiring. It has made me reevaluate picture books and the purpose of illustrations for the reader.
I love reading and I feel strongly about fostering a love of books in children. Books, magazines and comics can open up whole new worlds and provide a variety of experiences for people.
